Today was a very long day. There were lots of programs going on and the day felt like one thing after another. I created evaluations for the program that I have been working on so that we can get feedback from the children about what they think about it. I helped staff the summer reading table again, signing patrons up, explaining the program to them, and helping other patrons when the library staff were busy. I started working on the reader's advisory portion of my practicum experience. The teen library had me start with a LGBT reader's advisory sheet for the teens. The previous book list was very out of date and so I started working on a list with newer books that covered a diverse range of topics.
Every summer, BPL hosts a "stuffie sleepover" where stuffed animals are brought to the library for a story time and get to spend the night at the library. At some point, there had been a typo and some of the promotional materials for this program said the sleepover was on Wednesday and some of them said that it was on Thursday. So, the YS staff just decided to do it twice. I stuck around on Wednesday to help out because the department was a little understaffed. It was a lot of fun and is a really cute program.
